Software Development Engineer in Test

Guidewire's development team is looking for an inquisitive, proactive, and results-oriented SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) to test elegant solutions for the property & casualty insurance industry's complex business domain and make our industry-leading products even better. The team is looking for an enthusiastic engineer who is passionate about testing high quality software with a great team and improving the customer experience for millions of people who use our products every day.

As an SDET, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our industry-leading enterprise and SAAS software. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive set of automation tests using Guidewire testing frameworks and tools.

Successful SDET at Guidewire typically have:

  • A passion for building quality into everything we do throughout the whole development cycle
  • Curiosity and internal motivation to constantly learn and improve
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Work closely with Product Management and development engineers to understand features and contribute to the design of test plans and robust test cases
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing test automation
  • Maintain and update automated tests for continuous regression testing
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to express ideas and defend them based on merit while remaining open to learning from others
  • Excellent collaboration abilities, working effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in manual testing techniques
  • Experience in setting up and managing test environments
  • Familiarity with testing microservices

Key qualifications include experience with:

  • Strong experience in software testing, test automation, and quality assurance.
  • Experience in creating test plans, test cases, and doing risk analysis prior to product releases
  • Understanding of software testing methodologies, best practices, and test automation strategies
  • Experience in developing automated tests and/or frameworks using Java, Javascript or an equivalent object-oriented language
  • Industry standard API Framework/Tools (Karate, Postman)
  • Industry standard UI testing frameworks (TestCafe, Selenium, Cypress)
  • 3rd party software integrations (REST APIs, XML, JSON)
  • Tools (NPM, Gradle, TeamCity, Jenkins, Jira, XRay)

Knowledge of these technologies is a bonus:

  • Experience working with Kotlin code
  • Behavior Driven testing (Cucumber, Gherkin)
  • Experience working with tools such as Datadog, Docker etc.
  • Cloud services such as AWS
  • Operating Systems (Unix, Windows, MacOS)

Salary Information

Salary Range: $102000 - $180000 per year

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
