Guidewire seeks to hire a Go-to-Market (GTM) Director who will help define and drive the growth strategy for InsuranceSuite in specific market segments, specifically commercial lines. This role is a mix of influence, strategy, GTM execution, account planning, and partner engagement. Reporting in to the General Manager for InsuranceSuite, this leader will be key in facilitating relationships with Global Sales and Sales Consulting, and working with Marketing, Alliances, and other adjacent teams to drive a consistent global strategy.

The GTM Director is actively involved before launch, exploring/shaping new ideas with Product Management, engaging with customers, and enrolling early adopters; during launch working with Sales Enablement and Product Marketing to support sales readiness, enablement, messaging, competitive positioning, and overall GTM strategy; and after launch problem solving to drive customer success and help the business exceed sales expectations.

The successful candidate is someone who can define our GTM vision and supporting strategy, informed by industry trends and market realities. This person will also have these essential professional qualities:

Thinks exponentially: has strategic acuity for new business ideas, partnerships, acquisitions, and GTM approaches that drive exponential growth (2x to 10x or more).

Acts quickly with conviction: encourages/values debate and consensus building while astutely understanding when it's time to decide and take action. Knows who to include in a decision and how to engage them. Recognizes when to revisit/revise prior decisions.

Leads holistically and pragmatically: works capably in a large, matrixed organization. Achieves goals by building consensus, engaging internal partners, and celebrating collective success.


  • Produce market analysis for target market opportunities that informs product and business strategy.
  • Cultivate relationships with key external leaders to ensure a consistently current pulse for the market.
  • Frame market dynamics from the perspectives of the industry and customers.
  • Prioritize and guide competitive intelligence efforts and win/loss analyses in collaboration with market intelligence and Product Marketing teams.

GTM Planning and Execution

  • Provide input to product strategy and investment priorities.
  • Identify key partners for driving long-term growth, build strategy to activate those partners, and work with Alliances team to execute the strategy.
  • Develop clear and consistent “source of truth” internal positioning documents.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Product Marketing leaders to define value propositions and messaging themes.
  • Critically examine GTM processes for efficiency and effectiveness improvements.
  • Ensure ongoing alignment between internal product strategy/vision and customer-facing marketing materials.
  • Activate and facilitate the sales enablement process to maximize the reach and impact of external positioning/messaging efforts.
  • Understand product capabilities and user personas for both current product and future roadmap.
  • Work with business operations and program management to ensure decisions, activities, and hand-offs are executed cleanly.

External Market Communications

  • Serve as a subject matter specialist for external events -- analyst briefings, customer/prospect meetings, and user groups.
  • Actively engage in strategic deals to provide executive presence/ commitment.

Internal Business Line Support

  • Identify and evaluate new solutions initiatives.
  • Facilitate business case development (e.g., TAM analysis, impact analysis, pricing, and packaging decisions).
  • Report on business performance and solution adoption.
  • Provide cross-functional problem solving and issue resolution.
