Guidewire’s Cloud Transition Practice (CTP) was established to help our self-managed customers transition to Guidewire Cloud in a faster and more cost-effective way, by defining and enabling the upgrade path, and building tools and automation for increased efficiency.

The Role:

Guidewire is really gaining momentum in transitioning our Customers to our Cloud Native platform (GWCP).
The Customer Landscape speaks for itself, there are A LOT of Customers awaiting transition in the coming months and years.
To be prepared, CTP is planning to implement a Center of Excellence to deliver technical upgrades more efficiently and quickly and have created a brand-new role of Program Manager to lead this.

As Program Manager, you will lead and oversee all aspects of the Center of Excellence and will work with the CTP Leads to define the processes from the very beginning. The Center of Excellence will consist of engineers from the Technical Upgrade POD and the Database POD.

The role will involve working closely with CTP Leads to first define the model. You will have two Project Analysts assigned to work with you to help put the right structures in place.

Essentially the Program of work will involve multiple fixed price technical Upgrades running simultaneously. Once the CoE is up and running, you will work closely with assigned Project Managers of the Technical Upgrades team to ensure consistency across all Upgrades.

The Program Manager will proactively monitor the Program progress, resolve issues, and initiate appropriate corrective action and serve as escalation point for the Project Managers and Project Analysts assigned. You will also work closely with GSC and RMO to ensure the Program is sufficiently resourced, and that the right team are in place for each of the Upgrades.

Given the dynamic nature of the work in the CTP team, we are looking for decisive, highly-skilled problem solvers who can bring their array of experience working with Complex Programs of work to the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and supports all aspects of the program.
  • Works closely with assigned Project Managers to ensure consistency across all Technical Upgrades
  • Establish, lead, and manage the delivery Program Management Office (PMO) for CTP Technical Upgrade Delivery Team
  • Plan and design the program (multiple fixed price technical Upgrades running simultaneously) and proactively monitor its progress, resolve issues, and initiate appropriate corrective action and serve as escalation point
  • Define the program's governance arrangements
  • Facilitate the appointment of individuals to project technical and Database upgrade teams, working closely with RMO to ensure there is an understanding of the upcoming demand on current and future projects.
  • Putting in place a method of scheduling the work for the Technical Upgrade and Database Upgrade PODs, thus ensuring the Project Managers assigned to the various Projects can schedule: Technical Upgrades, Production Merges and DB Upgrades for the various Phases of their Projects
  • Ensure there is allocation of common resources and skills within the program's individual projects
  • Manage risks and facilitate mitigation activities to ensure the program's successful outcome
  • Report the progress of the program at regular intervals to the internal Guidewire stakeholders

Background and Skills:

  • 5-7 years of program management experience
  • Experience leading enterprise technology implementations leveraging agile and understands agile tools and concepts
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Has agile certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Scaled Agilest (SA)
  • Experience with project management tools: Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira, Rally
