Solution Consultant /Sales Engineer, Data and Analytics

We are looking for someone to help some of the largest property and casualty insurance companies in North America modernize their data infrastructures and approach. Our data and analytics capabilities are comprised of data listening, risk analysis applications, data streaming, and tried-and-true operational data stores, ETL, and dimensional data marts. Our Data Platform marries all these capabilities together to enable insurers to generate underwriting insights, understand risks accurately, automate claims processing, develop new products, and take advantage of new opportunities to advance their business goals based on data driven decisions.

During strategic sales events, you will articulate Guidewire's vision and craft sophisticated solution demonstrations while leading data-centric discussions that outline Guidewire Data Platform's holistic benefits.
A successful Solution Consultant works side-by-side with our prospects to find the right solution while ensuring that our product management and engineering staff are kept abreast of product strengths and weaknesses. This position requires a unique blend of insurance industry knowledge, presentation skills, and a passion for data access, delivery, and organization.

You will work in tandem with the sales executives to actively sell Guidewire's data and analytics capabilities. Our compensation structure provides a significant team bonus for achieving and exceeding objectives. Within the team bonus structure, we reserve a pool to reward outstanding individual contributions.

Note: Post Covid, 55 - 65% travel is required for this role in the US and Canada, with some week-to-week variance.

Key activities for the Solution Consultant include:

  • Supporting the sales team as an authority on the technical and business aspects of our data and analytics solutions throughout the sales cycle
  • Serving as a pre-sales technical point-of-contact for customers
  • Conducting presentation and whiteboard sessions outlining how Guidewire’s capabilities fit within a customer’s broader ecosystem in a consultative approach
  • Responding to requests for information or proposal (product sections)
  • Partnering with clients' business and technical teams to identify business objectives and requirements.
  • Identifying new platform requirements and working with Product Management to craft solutions for those requirements
  • Occasionally representing Guidewire for speaking engagements at trade shows, conferences, and industry meetings 

Desired areas of expertise:

  • 5+ years demonstrated ability in data or analytics field, either wrangling, modeling, or handling data
  • Experience within insurance domain (P&C insurance in particular)
  • Familiarity of financial and regulatory reporting needs (P&C)
  • Validated experience with relational database management systems (Oracle,  SQL Server Postgres) and logical and physical, data modeling, ETL, modern big data technologies (Kafka, Avro, S3, Parquet, Snowflake etc.)
  • 5+ years insurance software sales experience
  • General knowledge of modern enterprise software technologies
  • Experience presenting to senior customer executives
  • Confirmed ability to understand business process needs and to conceptualize which requirements are satisfied through our solutions
  • Tech-savvy and should learn quickly and adapt to the use of new tools
