Senior BI Engineer (Tableau/ThoughtSpot) - Toronto- Remote

Join our growing Business Technology team to empower the business to achieve our next chapter of global growth and scale with a digital workforce. We are seeking pragmatic and accomplished innovative Business Intelligence Engineer who will be delivering insights through large scale data solutions.
 
Lead Business Intelligence Engineer will work with a team of committed Data Analytics professionals, applying your standout combination of intuition for business and technical knowledge. They will be working with the Product Managers and collaborating with multiple business units and key stakeholders throughout Guidewire. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Data and Integration.
 
To be successful at this position, you must be a self-starter with the ability to take ownership, work under pressure, be a team player and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. You must possess good oral and written documentation skills and collaborate effectively with other team members. You will also contribute ideas and provide feedback on many aspects within the team's project portfolio that may be outside your domain of expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Experience with business analytics products like ThoughtSpot and Tableau
  • Knowledge of one or more database technologies (Snowflake, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Extensive understanding of global corporate business processes and their relationship to technology
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Thrive in a dynamic environment, maintaining composure and a positive attitude
  • Demonstrable understanding of development processes and agile methodologies
  • Successful track record managing solutions from requirements analysis, to feature definition to deployment
  • Proactively initiates, develops, and identifies opportunities to improve data quality
  • Successful interaction with offshore team members is important
  • Proficiency in writing Advanced SQLs, experience with data science tools and technologies is a plus

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Experience in building advanced data visualizations using ThoughtSpot and Tableau
  • 6+ years of IT experience with dimensional modeling, data investigation, optimization & using Cloud Databases
  • Experience utilizing, and optimizing the use of, multiple large data sets
  • Prior experience in the facilitating conversations to translate business requirements into the technical data requirements needed to develop solutions
  • Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to rapid business and organizational change
