Assistant Controller- San Mateo, California

As Assistant Controller, you are an effective team and organizational leader who has experience driving the month-end close and related activities. You are passionate about continuously improving processes through system automation and effective risk evaluation. You support a successful team while being comfortable in the details. Through demonstrating these behaviors, you influence stakeholders across the organization to align on key priorities of the accounting and finance organization.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Mentors, coaches, and develops the team; defines and aligns team goals with company priorities and values; builds morale and motivation. Holds self and team accountable to maintaining established company standards.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting and general ledger and consolidation activities.
  • Ensure timely, consistent, and accurate execution of close procedures in accordance with US GAAP. Deliver consolidated financial statements scheduled in conjunction with external reporting deadlines.
  • Optimize systems and procedures by partnering with key stakeholders across finance, technology, and broader business teams.
  • Review, develop, and maintain SOX controls as the business environment changes, and as a result of process, system, and policy enhancements. Coordinate and ensures ongoing compliance with SOX.
  • Manage review of consolidated financial statement fluctuation analyses with FP&A, regional accounting teams, and external auditors.
  • Identify, research and resolve accounting issues. Provide US GAAP accounting guidance and support to teams, collaborating with the SEC team and others.
  • Support SEC team with preparation/review of schedules along with other analysis as needed.
  • Primary liaison for external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Assist with other projects and duties as appropriate such as acquisitions, new entity set up, etc.

What you bring to the team:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • 7+ years of management experience
  • Knowledge and experience in accounting operations with strong attention to detail; Experience with Oracle Fusion, Robotic Process Automation, FRS, and Blackline a plus
  • System savvy problem solver with strong analytical skills
  • Experience in developing, mentoring and creating a team environment
  • Proficient in general accounting under US GAAP and SOX requirements
  • Ability to partner with cross-functional groups to drive and influence business solutions
  • Excellent written, oral and communication skills to work with management and cross-functional groups
  • Detailed-oriented with effective organizational and time management skills
  • CPA preferred
  • Prior experience in both public accounting (CPA) and industry (publicly traded company) preferred
  • BS degree in accounting or finance required
