Guidewire's development team is looking for a smart, proactive, and results-oriented Senior Software Engineer to build elegant solutions for the property & casualty insurance industry's complex business domain and make our industry-leading products even better. The team is looking for an enthusiastic engineer who is passionate about building high-quality software with a great team and improving the customer experience for millions of people who use our products every day. Your role will be to help our customers stay up to date on the latest versions of our software, which will include coding, automating code refactoring, testing, and debugging issues. You will help us achieve a zero-effort digital update experience for our customers.

You will have the opportunity to make an impact and contribute to a complex application suite of products that generate over 500 million dollars of revenue annually, mission-critical to 100+ enterprises serving more than a million users. Our software supports significant data volumes and heavy server load. Our platform includes a cluster-safe persistence layer, inter-application messaging architecture, an MVC Web layer, and a lot more. The successful candidate will work on the entire technology stack, from the core persistence layer through to the Web Application front ends. Our teams are lean, empowered, and collaborative. You must be a self-starter and able to perform with minimal supervision while working alongside intelligent colleagues who've checked their egos at the door in a team environment, communicating effectively with everyone. Your team builds software that helps EnterpriseEngage customers stay up to date with the latest version, ensuring they get the latest features, best performance, and most secure experience.

What you would do

Be part of a small empowered team to successful delivery of product updates.
Work with Team Lead to define sprints and perform agile ceremonies.
Own, diagnose and resolve code defects.

What you would need to succeed

Proficiency with building and deploying state-of-the-art single page web client applications using React, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in the above areas.
Experience and confidence contributing to product and software design, and implementation.
Experience writing unit tests and testable components.
Experience building automation scripts and tools to support the CI & CD pipeline.
Experienced in design patterns and best coding practices.
Experience working in an Agile work environment and knowledge of Agile methodologies.
Strong technical communication skills.
BS/MS degree (Computer Science) or equivalent.
Demonstrated aptitude for continuous learning of new technologies that can be applied to improving the product.

Bonus Skills

Experience developing applications deployed using public cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Understanding of authentication, role-based access control (authorization), web application security.
Experience with Node.js and server-side JavaScript (e.g. Express).
Server-side Java development
