We're looking for talented and intellectually curious technical writers for our team. Writers who are passionate about learning complex technologies. Writers who are technical enough to experiment with the product to figure out how something works. Writers who are passionate about creating high-quality content that meets users' needs.

As a technical writer at Guidewire, you will:

Work with developers and product managers to understand the behaviorand nuances of our products

Plan, design, and develop content for our cloud-based solutions

Write documentation for our applications, plugins, and APIs

Collaborate with geographically distributed teams

Contribute to content development efforts and to departmental projects and initiatives

To succeed in this role, you must have excellent communication skills, strong technical skills, a hands-on approach, and a self-motivated attitude. Expect to work in a fast-changing, flexible environment, and to use your own judgment extensively. 

Required skills and experience

2+ years of experience writing documentation for enterprise software products

Excellent writing and communication skills

Knowledge of best practices in technical writing

Good understanding of topic-based authoring

Familiarity with HTML, CSS, XML, and other web technologies

Ability to plan and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines

Ability to get information from subject matter experts and learn by experimenting

BA/BS in Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, or other related fields, or comparable experience

Nice to have

Good understanding of XML and DITA

Knowledge of web applications, databases, and object-oriented programming

Ability to write code to test assumptions or to include as examples in the documentation 

Experience using AWS or other cloud platforms and creating documentation for infrastructure and analytics tools

Experience creating videos, walk-throughs, tutorials, and other user assistance for enterprise business applications

Experience working inan Agile environment

The Documentation team creates and publishes content that helps our users successfully deploy, customize, and use Guidewire products. Our audience includes business analysts, technical consultants, and programmers. 

Our custom production, validation, and automation tools enable writers to focus on learning complex information and writing about it, rather than on production work or investigating documentation build problems.
