Role Title: Software Developer Intern (Summer 2019)
Guidewire is offering a 12 week paid summer internship program for IT students in 2019. The program is designed to give active undergraduate and graduate college students an opportunity to work in a real-world business environment, writing software that provides the guarantees that undergird our daily lives. Our customers are insurance companies, and insurance software is surprisingly complex, difficult to get right, and impacts all of our lives.
As an intern, you will learn what it means to be a professional software developer as you work on solving real customer problems. Guidewire uses agile development practices – we understand our customers’ problems and incrementally solve those problems. We embrace BDD, TDD, pair programming. Our focus is to make the highest quality software for our customers and deliver it on-time. We spend a significant amount of time focusing on software development as a craft. If you intern here, you will collaborate with developers, testers, product managers and writers while learning what it means to be a professional software developer.
Our hiring is as methodical, rational and stringent as our development standards…
- Penulimate or final year of study from a bachelors or masters in computer science or related discipline
- Awareness of object-oriented design principle and Algorithms
- Some Software development lifecycle exposure (Agile) preferred
- Web-based applications and technologies
Other types of things that we like to cultivate –

- Accountability based on an earnest desire to do what is expected without prompting
- Kindness and respect for your fellow teammates.
At Guidewire, we value people at every stage of their career and try to minimize those barriers for collaboration. It is reflected in how we communicate with each other company-wide and on projects. Every engineer and consultant brings something to the table whether in the earlier years of their career or after a long and successful progression. We strive for integrity in all that we do: truthful relationships with customers, prospective customers, partners, investors, and each other. As we grow, our commitment to integrity has only increased.
Established in 2015, Guidewire’s Krakow development centre was established to build core applications used by our enterprise customers. Our customers are insurance companies, and insurance software is surprisingly complex, difficult to get right, and a lot of fun to work on. Demand for our software is on the rise, and we are growing to meet the needs of the market.
We serve more than 200 customers in more than 20 countries, executing more than 300 Guidewire product implementations. We invest heavily in R&D to build a technology platform that combines three elements—core processing, data and analytics, and digital engagement—to enhance insurers’ ability to engage and empower their customers and employees. There is an opportunity to gain truly international experience, and work with a distributed team across the globe.
How do I apply?
We are taking applications from interested students, and will begin the formal hiring process in April 2019. This is a paid internship and you will be expected to do real work, learn great skills, present your own project work, and bring all that you’ve learned with you on your career path.

Interviews will commence in May 2019.
