Join our growing Business Technology team as we empower the business to achieve our next chapter of global growth and scale with a digital workforce.  We are seeking a pragmatic, entrepreneurial, and accomplished innovative product player-coach leader to paint and execute on the strategic vision in support of the Company’s growth.  The Business Technology organization is responsible for all internal and external applications across Guidewire.

 

VP of Business Technology Applications is accountable for Guidewire’s Enterprise Applications and Enterprise Architecture, and will oversee strategic planning, development and execution of Application Supporting and Development functions within the company.    This position is a senior member of the Guidewire leadership team and reports directly to the Chief Information Officer based in San Mateo, CA, office. 

 

The advent of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), quantum computing, micro services, Big Data in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and the pivot to lean organization led by DevSecOps continuous delivery movement and human centric design experience requires a broader set of skills. The need to develop a meaningful and collaborative partnership with software and data engineering, along with other business units, requires a business-focused mindset and focus to overcome the barriers that usually silo business and IT. In today’s digital connected ecosystem investing in employee experience technology is key to driving growth.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sets the vision, principles, methods, obstacle, and measures (VPMOM) of the Information System’s organization to foster an innovative, agile, team culture focused on providing a seamless delightful employee experience technology platform
  • Builds agile global teams and processes to deliver products and experiences that satisfy the needs of both internal and external customers and employees
  • Lead, define, represent, and communicate the strategic product strategy of our business technology application environment to all stakeholders
  • Own the product roadmap (including enterprise architecture vision & strategy) and communicate with C-level staff and their direct leadership teams
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance to create a future state architecture that enables innovation and accelerates delivery
  • Evangelize and promote the target architecture to drive continuous improvement to deliver successful outcomes
  • Product lifecycle management from concept to launch of the product(s) across all products/product lines
  • Delivers an integrated, mobile workspace for every employee, reducing time wasted on multiple logins and toggling between application to drive productivity and team collaboration
  • Gives employees an efficient, self-service support experience available on any digital channel
  • Accelerates business by quickly building low-code apps for every workflow
  • Empowers employees with continuous learning to scale onboarding and increase skill development by decreasing time-to-proficiency in their roles
  • Drive innovative ideas, solutions and products through leadership and decisive action
  • Embraces dynamic and talented team that challenges each other to reach their full potential and committed to career development and coaching; Responsible for the overall managerial responsibility and day to day operations of the Team
  • Leverages relationships and SLA’s with strategic technology vendors, and external advisory groups, to define strategic direction and effectively deliver significant outcomes
  • Attract and hire exceptional talent and grow your team of Product Managers with requisite technical and product experience
  • Responsible to manage and optimize budget for Business Technology Product budgets & forecasts, and metrics

 

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field, or equivalent work experience

 

Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in Product Management or Business Technology
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in product management, with extensive experience influencing senior business and technology partners and 5+ years of experience leading and mentoring product managers especially in the CRM space
  • A visionary and inspirational leader who inspires others to achieve greatness with genuine humility
  • Expertise in modern SaaS cloud-based technologies as well as middleware API integration
  • Demonstrated experience in solution design and enterprise architecture with focus on scalability and automation
  • Demonstrated track record of success building, shipping, and iterating on high value teams and products within an agile software development environment
  • Experience leading a shift from project to product management as a driver of growth and scale
  • Ability to understand complex business problems and craft effective strategies to tackle them
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging methods, such as DevSecOps, Continuous Delivery, that are optimized for agility practices, and how other enterprises are employing them
  • Ability to synthesize multiple sources of input (data, business stakeholders, client research, design) and arrive at high quality decisions
  • Active vendor management and partner relation skills to identify and leverage resources internal and external to the enterprise to enhance capabilities that support business outcomes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the technical team
