The Sr. Program Manager for Business Technology team interacts with IT and business stakeholders to improve customer experience through a portfolio of applications that support Guidewire’s overall growth strategy.  As part of this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering a broad range of projects while balancing the competing demands of scope, time, cost, quality, resources, and risks.

 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

The primary responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

 

  • Excellent analysis, communication & problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented individual with the ability to rapidly learn and take advantage of new concepts, business models, and technologies
  • Ability to follow an agile or iterative software development methodology
  • Highly motivated, a quick learner, to work independently or on a team and drive solutions with minimal supervision
  • Drive key transformational projects across multiple BUs
  • Direct and manage projects from beginning to end.  Develop and build knowledge across the project lifecycle including scope definition, business case development, requirements gathering, functional and technical design, vendor assessment, testing, training, and implementation phases
  • Act as a liaison with the client group and the IT team to facilitate an effective and seamless communication channel. Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and stakeholders on an ongoing basis
  • Facilitate project meetings including core team meetings and steering committee meetings
  • Create and manage all project management resources including project plan, issues log and status updates
  • Facilitate workshops and decompose high-level information into details
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to establish strategy / vision and analyze business tradeoffs
  • Manage vendor relationship and review scope of work in agreements
  • Develop and lead change management and communications efforts
  • Seek ways to streamline and improve PMO effectiveness and efficiency

 

 

Qualifications

In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position, the individual must have: 

  • Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills, including the ability to mobilize and motivate teams, set direction and approach, resolve conflict, deliver tough messages with grace, and execute with limited information and ambiguity
  • Minimum 10 years full-time consulting, project/program management, or related experience
  • Minimum of two large scale implementations is required at a medium sized software and/or services companies
  • 5+ years of project management experience which must include large scale program management
  • Experience with packaged application implementations and enhancements such as Salesforce, Oracle etc.
  • Expert knowledge of both waterfall and Agile Software Development methodologies
  • Extensive experience in development and control of project plans, resource planning, quality and risk management, forecasts, budgeting, reporting and stakeholder management
  • Strong ability to make effective presentations and proven ability to quickly earn the trust of executive sponsors and key stakeholders
  • Strong influencing, collaboration, persuasion and consensus-building skills.  Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and build relationship across disciplines
  • Exceptional skills in assessing, summarizing and presenting business or operational priorities and decision-points for effective, timely and efficient management/executive decision-making
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize data and information to provide a high-level view which is accessible to a range of audiences
  • Effective problem solving. Can see the big picture while also being able to understand the details and navigate to successful results
  • Balance between competing priorities; drive world-class team performance
  • Ability to coach and mentor Project Managers and team members on project methodology and tools
  • Must have demonstrated leadership ability, business acumen, and industry knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred
  • CSM and PMP/PMI certification is a plus
