We are looking for a hands-on engineering leader to help moving property & casualty insurance industry to the 21st century!

Our solution not only includes carefully polished React components with robust Metadata-driven approach architecture, with full support of capabilities like internationalization, accessibility and themability, but includes visual tools for building and testing modern web apps using these. One of the most exciting challenges is making it possible to build the apps on top of platform's components in a codeless manner.

You will have the opportunity to make an impact and contribute to a complex application suite of products that generate over 500 million dollars of revenue annually, mission-critical to 100+ enterprises serving more than a million users.

As a Lead Engineering Manager at Guidewire you will be hands-on, empower, and support between 3 to 6 self-sufficient teams.

The day-to-day:

  • Attract, retain, develop, and motivate top-notch engineering talent
  • Align the architecture, drive engineering initiatives and facilitate cross-team dependencies
  • Empower multiple engineering teams, and offer guidance and coaching as needed
  • Ensure effective collaboration and communication within the team and with peers and stakeholders across the organization
  • Work in an agile development environment (e.g. BDD, TDD, DDD, pair programming)
  • Collaborating with other managers and teams to execute the roadmap and ensure successful delivery of running software
  • Trust your team, and be trusted by your manager and colleagues to make good decisions
  • Be involved in design discussions and support the team from a technical point of view
  • Regular one-to-one’s with your team

What skills or experience do I need to have?

  • Strong experience leading development teams
  • A ceaseless desire to improve how things get done
  • Strong experience in modern web technologies: JavaScript (ES 6+), and market leading frameworks (React is preferred)
  • Advocate of DDD, BDD, TDD, and API first
  • Mentoring others on technical topics and processes
  • Leading projects from inception to completion with collaboration across teams
  • Risk mitigation and handling dependencies
  • A calm, rational demeanor under pressure. Having a sense of humor helps!

Nice-to-have skills:

  • Cloud Services and architectures (e.g. serverless, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes)
