Description of Role:

Dublin (GSC)

You will start your Guidewire career with the GSC (Guidewire Services Center) in Dublin, Ireland where you will be located for between 16 – 20 months.

After initial training, you will become part of a highly skilled team who work directly with customers and partners to customize and integrate our products in complex, technical environments. You will have the opportunity to apply your software development skills in a supportive environment, where some of our senior consultants will act as your individual mentor. This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, design skills, programming skills, and consultancy skills.

You will also be enrolled in Guidewire’s Graduate Program where you will undertake structured training designed to maximize your knowledge of several soft-skills, Agile best practices, advanced product knowledge and overall Guidewire methodology concepts, among other topics.

The time spent in the GSC in Dublin and the skills learned on the Graduate Program will ensure that you the knowledge, skills, credibility and confidence you will need to be set up for success once you move on to field consulting at customer sites. This will all help build a solid foundation for your successful career.

On Site (EMEA Region)

Once you have completed the training program in Dublin, depending on project availability, you will move into a full-time position with our field consulting organisation. This role is similar to the role in the GSC and uses the same set of skills but is on-site with a customer as opposed to working remotely. We employ a flexible travel schedule; traveling to the customer on Mondays and returning on Thursdays which is known as “the 3-4-5” in the industry; three nights away, four days onsite, with the fifth day working from home. You can choose to live in any of the EMEA regions y in which Guidewire has an entity. The position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, design skills, programming skills, and customer-facing skills.

Required skills/experience:

  • This position does not require any prior experience in either the insurance industry or a software development role.
  • Strong German language skills, either a native speaker or high level conversational ability.
  • BSc in Computer Science or equivalent from third-level or higher education institution
  • Understand of broad technical skills such as Object-Oriented programming as well as a solid grounding in Java or C#
  • Database and SQL skills, Web UI (Design and development), XML, Application Architecture are an advantage
  • Software development lifecycle exposure (AGILE) preferred
  • Problem solving skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Career focussed and interested and willingness to explore a consulting career
